The Year in Weddings

It’s time for the very last post of 2014 and our 867th post since starting this blog back in 2005.  While the task of gathering up some (we could never fit them all) of our favorite images of the year is daunting, once its completed I absolutely love looking back on what an incredible year it’s been.  I look back on the overwhelming amount of joy, happiness, laughter and love that we get to document each year and am overcome with gratitude for this job.  It’s an honor, in the least.  To all of you that were a part of it, we wish you a lifetime of joy.  For those weddings that lie ahead in 2015, we anticipate another phenomenal year and cannot wait to meet those of you whose smiles will be a part of this post next year. read more…

The Year in Weddings | Black & White

As I began gathering all our favorite images of 2014, I noticed how many black & white images we created this year that I absolutely love.  Whether it be due to undesirable lighting conditions or emotions that demand attention without the distraction of color, some images are just meant to be black & white.  While I’m a sucker for great color, I can’t deny the timeless quality of black & white.  A black & white photograph will never go out of style.  Here’s a look at some of our favorite black & white photography from 2014… read more…

The Year in Engagement Portraits

Engagement portrait sessions are such a fun, laid-back time to get to know our clients and create some beautiful, relaxed images of just the two of them.  It’s often times a great opportunity for us to show our clients some of our favorite places.  Whether it be a hidden little spot along a river or an open meadow with expansive mountain vistas, there’s nothing we love to do more than share Colorado with those that love it here as much as we do.  This year our engagement portrait sessions took us from the mountains all the way to the beaches of California.  Here’s a collection of some of our favorite engagement portraits from 2014… read more…

Lindsay & Kirk’s Steamboat Wedding @ Catamount Ranch|Aurum Food & Wine

We had the opportunity to work with a lot of creatives this year, Kirk – a graphic designer and photographer – being one of them.  It’s always an honor to be chosen and trusted by a fellow creative professional.  Kirk & Lindsay have some crazy good taste, evident by their selection of two spectacular locations for their wedding day.  An outdoor ceremony was held at the picturesque Heritage Cabin at Catamount Ranch followed by dinner and dancing at Aurum Food & Wine in downtown Steamboat Springs.  The dinner I had at Aurum that night was, hands down, the best meal I had at a wedding this year.  Both locations are so unique and incredible, we’ll gladly return anytime!  Here’s a look at Kirk & Lindsay’s destination wedding in Steamboat… read more…

2014 Weddings: Bouquets & Boutonnieres

We’ve wrapped up all the gorgeous ceremony and reception details of 2014, now it’s time for all the beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres!  Since this is our final details post, I must dedicate it the many extraordinarily talented florists and coordinators that we get to work along side every year.  Their talent is truly remarkable and I wouldn’t have all this eye candy to share for you without their hard work.  I also must give a shout out to our clients for having some killer style.  What a beautiful year it’s been!  Here is a look at the 2014 bouquet and boutonniere collection… read more…

Laura & Andrew’s Beaver Creek Wedding @ Saddle Ridge

In the middle of September, when the leaves begin to change, there is no place I’d rather be than in the middle of a magnificent aspen grove.  If you’re anything like me, Saddle Ridge is the place to be for a fall wedding in the mountains.  A dense, mature aspen grove hugs Saddle Ridge making for a setting unlike anywhere else in the state.  Laura & Andrew’s wedding had been on our calendar for over two years when their wedding arrived and we could not have been more excited to finally meet them in person.  These two were elated that their day was finally here and they were gifted a gorgeous Colorado day in this one-of-a-kind setting.  Take a peek at Laura & Andrew’s destination wedding in Beaver Creek, Colorado… read more…

Mitch & Mallory’s Keystone Wedding @ Timber Ridge

It was a Sunday in September in Keystone, the place was a ghost town except for Mark, myself, Johnna (the coordinator) and her assistant all huddled under one giant umbrella waiting for the gondola to (hopefully) open as the rain came pouring down.  We Coloradans will tell you that 99% of the time, if it’s raining, it will pass in less than 20 minutes.  However, there’s a handful of days every year where you can tell that it’s just not going to let up.  This was one of those days.  The day hadn’t even started and I was feeling bummed for Mitch & Mallory, one of the sweetest couples you’ll ever meet.  As we stood shivering in the cold, here comes Mallory, umbrella in hand, with a bounce in her step and a smile as big as the sun is bright.  If she wasn’t standing right there in front of me in the rain, I would have guessed she didn’t know it was raining.  She was that happy.  I knew right then and there that nothing was going to stop Mallory from having the best day of her life and for that the weather gods rewarded her. read more…

Rachel & Dan’s Aspen Wedding @ the Wedding Deck & Hotel Jerome

We met Rachel & Dan well over a year ago and from the moment we’d met I’d been eagerly anticipating their Aspen wedding.  The day finally came at the beginning of September and it did not disappoint.  What I absolutely adore about these two is their unabashed love for one another.  Dan is so head over heels in love with Rachel and it’s obvious that he will do anything in the world to make her smile.  He’s clearly swept Rachel off her feet and their wedding day was like a fairytale come true.  It all started on top of Aspen Mountain with an emotional ceremony at the Wedding Deck overlooking the Elk Mountains.  Passing rain showers gave way to sunshine and a beautiful cocktail hour spent on the deck at the Aspen Mountain Club.  After a scenic gondola ride back down the mountain, we enjoyed a leisurely walk thru downtown Aspen to the Hotel Jerome for a night of dinner and dancing.  read more…

Sarah & Jarrod’s Cordillera Elopement

Sarah & Jarrod eloped on a perfect August afternoon at Cordillera Lodge in Edwards, Colorado.  We’d never before photographed an elopement and I hope to be a part of many more in the future.  Sarah & Jarrod were accompanied by their parents, one aunt and the officiant.  It was a simple yet stunning ceremony overlooking the breathtaking Vail Valley & Sawatch Range.  Sarah & Jarrod opted to keep their nuptials simple, focusing on what mattered most, the joining of their two lives.  Immediately following their Colorado elopement, they splurged on several weeks traveling thru Europe   Well played you two, well played. read more…

What our clients are saying…

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  We knew when we met you that you were the ones for the job but you have exceeded our expectations by a long shot.  Our photos are amazing and you were both such a pleasure to work with.  Both Todd & I keep saying “Where were they?”.  The candid shots are incredible and the details you thought to capture absolutely rock!  I don’t know what else to say but awesome job.  We enjoyed you both so much!  We hope to see you soon again next time we are in Breck!

Jen

Thank you so much for these amazing photographs and for making the whole photography process so easy!   How you manage to take such beautiful photos in the speed that you do baffles me!  Taking the bridal party and family photos did not keep us away from the party at all.  We have never been happier and the pictures show it.  I feel like you really captured who we are as a couple and as individuals.  It was so easy to be ourselves around you.  Thank you for being a part of it and providing the photographs that allow us to relive it for the rest of our lives!

Erin

Thank you thank you thank you!!! We are absolutely thrilled with the photos. They are exactly what I’d always hoped for and perfectly captured all the events, people and emotions of our day.  Just looking at some of the ceremony ones makes my eyes well up with tears all over again every time I look at them, which is often.  The groomsmen photos are really some of the best pictures of a group of guys I’ve ever seen. Plus we had such a blast hanging out with you and Mark all afternoon! I would recommend you both to all my friends. Thank you for capturing our special day so perfectly.

Jennifer
