The Aftermath

The snow finally stopped today around noon. It’s become taller than Cozmo so it’s been rather entertaining watching him try to get around. We bundled up and went for a walk, what a great way to meet the neighbors. Everybody is outside either shoveling or sledding. Denver’s mayor John Hickenlooper said “Don’t Drive, Try Sledding.” He’s encouraging everyone to get out and enjoy the 2006 blizzard. If you can find a way to just relax and enjoy it like you did when you were a kid, it sure is fun!

The small tan spot you see in the middle of this image is Cozmo’s head. It takes a lot of effort for him to get around right now.

You can see in his face though that he sure does love it!

Can you guess what this is?

Yes, that’s my car!

The usual ice scraper didn’t quite cut it when it came to cleaning off the cars.

I am so jealous of these kids. If I had any cash, I’d go see if they’d give me a ride.

This is Mark’s attempt at getting Cozmo to pull him on the sled. As you can see, that’s not going to happen.

It’s a Blizzard!

We made it home from LA just in time for the big blizzard. We’re so thankful we don’t have any plans for the rest of the week since it looks like there is a good chance we’re going to be stuck here for a few days. I can’t believe I actually drove to Denver this morning. The usual 25 minute drive took an hour and fifteen minutes. The interstate is closed all the way from Denver to Kansas, the airport is closed and the governor has declared a disaster emergency. Now that I am home and have no where to go I have to say I’m really enjoying it. I’m ready for a puzzle and some hot chocolate!

Once Mark and I realized we’ll probably be stuck here for a few days we thought we should make a run to the grocery store to stock up on some things. For our California and Arizona blog enthusiasts, we thought you might be amused by these photos I took of our run to the store!

The snow plows can’t keep up with it.

The car accumulated a good amount of snow during the 30 minutes we were in the store. I also must say Yeah! for the Subaru Outback. I couldn’t ask for a better car in these kinds of conditions.

The plows rarely make it down our street. It got a little sketchy getting back to the house.

Christmas Parties!

We had a great time in LA this weekend! It’s the one weekend of the year that I get to see my entire family in a matter of two days, therefore I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Saturday we hung out at my Aunt Jamie’s where there is always excellent food and we always have a good time no matter what we’re doing.

Dinner and a gift exchange was followed by a friendly game of poker.

Thank you Harvey & Jamie for always being such fun and gracious hosts!

Sunday was spent having a great time with my dad’s side of the family.

Lauren is one happy baby!

It wouldn’t be a DeVries family Christmas without the scandalous gift exchange!

I must say thank you to my Aunt Linda for always working so hard to make sure we all have a fantastic time!

Happy Holidays!

Hi everybody! Just wanted to let everyone know that we are headed west to sunny California for some family Christmas parties. We’ll be back next Tuesday. We should have some fun pics to post! I hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday season!

Aleks & Jason

Tonight we were honored to photograph Aleks & Jason’s beautiful winter wedding. Not many people get married in the winter in Colorado, let alone on top of a mountain, so we were of course thrilled at the opportunity to do this. A gorgeous 45 minute gondola ride took us to Keystone mountain’s Alpenglow Stube restaurant where the ceremony and reception took place. Here are a few of our favorites.

Ski season is in full effect and it was a great day to ride!

The dress was simply stunning!

Congratulations Aleks & Jason!

Davis Family

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of hanging out with John, Christina and their family for some freestyle portraits at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. They were such good sports. You would never know by looking at their images that it was a bitter 20 degrees out. Here are a few of my favorites.

Is it really December already?

Despite the 10 degree weather, we got outside today for a holiday photo shoot, only this time the photos were of us! We’ve never actually had any photos taken of us before which I didn’t even realize until today. We had a great time being on the other side of the camera. Here are a few of our faves.

We didn’t last long in our street clothes before it was time to bundle up and have some fun!

We can’t thank our friend Audrey enough for coming over here, hanging out in the rather chilly weather and taking some photos of us that we absolutely love!

Quick story about this evil look you’re seeing on Cozmo’s face. Between traveling for the holiday and being home sick for the last five days we’ve been guilt riden by the fact that we haven’t been able to get Cozmo out for any hikes, walks, nothing. This wouldn’t be a big deal except for he’s used to getting out for some exercise about 5 or 6 days a week. In this photo we’ve put him on the leash and taken him out on our street to get some pics. We walked down the street about 50 feet and back for the sake of the photos and that was it … we were back in the yard. This photo needs no words to help convey the fact that he is not very happy with us!

Thank you Audrey!
