Your Afternoon Deer Update

We were able to snap a quick photo this morning.  The fawn doesn’t move much, we’re dying to see her get up and move around.  She is alive, we do know that.  Mom patrols outside of our yard on all of the surrounding properties.  It’s very interesting to watch.  So here’s the first photo and I’m sure we’ll have more.

An Interesting Turn of Events…the deer update

Much of the day was spent trying to get the deer to move on and out of our yard. Mark put together some homemade pepper spray, recipe courtesy of the Division of Wildlife (all the advice they had to offer), and sprayed down the perimeter of our yard. She was out of sight for about a half hour so, with our hopes high, we brought Cozmo outside. Within a few short minutes she was back and ready to go after Cozmo.

Finally this afternoon everything made sense. We left for a hike and upon our return found a baby fawn running besides its mom in our backyard! We feel just terrible for what we’ve done the last three days trying to get her to go away. Since the fawn is now in our yard and two small to hop the fence, we’re going to give it a few days and see what happens. The crazy thing is, this deer doesn’t have any problems with us. She was outside of our fence “patrolling the area” while we were standing about six feet from the fawn. Needless to say, we’ll have some photos to share once it’s daylight out so check back Friday afternoon!

Our Not So Welcome New Pet Deer

I’m not much for writing and therefore don’t typically tell stories on the blog but this one is definitely worth sharing.

We have a deer that has decided to make a home in our yard. This would not be a problem except for the fact that she attacked Cozmo yesterday morning. I am dead serious! I let Cozmo out yesterday morning and then walked into my bedroom to open the window and see Cozmo staring at this deer about twenty feet away from him. Cozmo pretends to be tough sometimes but deep down is a real whimp, I could see in his face that he didn’t want to have anything to do with this deer. He took a couple of steps towards the deer and the deer charged at him and (I swear to God) stradled him and pinned him to the ground!!!!!! I immediately started yelling and pounding on the window, luckily distracting the deer long enough for Cozmo to haul ass to the front door. The rest of the day she stayed in our yard. Mark has thrown rocks at her, tagged her with his pellet gun and soaked her with the hose. Nothing to really harm her but what we would think would be enough to chase her away. Everytime she casually hops the fence and waits for us to go back inside and then welcomes herself right back into the yard. That was yesterday.

This morning I go open the curtains in our living room and there she is, 10 feet from the window, staring at me! Poor Cozmo, who usually rules the yard, is too scared to go outside. Three times today we’ve walked him outside so that he can go to the bathroom. As soon as Cozmo sees the deer, he barks, of course only with the safety of us by his side. The moment he barks, this damn deer charges at him!!!! Yesterday I thought this whole thing was really funny but know I’m realizing we have a real problem on our hands. This deer WILL NOT leave!

It’s been an eventful week for Cozmo. I didn’t even mention his run in with a family of skunks, that’s another story.

Here she is, right at home in our backyard.

Jen, Jarrett & George at the Lake

Our second session on Sunday was with Jen, Jarrett and their dog George. We had so much fun with these guys! I’m not sure how we got so lucky but we have the best clients! These sessions feel more like just hanging out with friends and taking pictures than actual work. We can’t wait for each and every wedding we have coming up over the next few months.

Jen & Jarrett will be married at the beautiful Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge.

Check out a few of the fun images we got of Jen & Jarrett.

Tracy & Ned

On Sunday we had back to back engagement sessions in Breckenridge and Dillon. We kicked off our day with Tracy & Ned up on Boreas Pass in Breckenridge. We had such a great time and they were complete naturals in front of the camera. We can’t wait for their wedding at Ten Mile Station in September!

Kasey & Taylor (& Blue!)

We had the most beautiful weekend! On Saturday we spent the afternoon with Kasey, Taylor and their beautiful dog Blue at Washington Park in Denver. You’ll notice in the first few photos that Blue showed up to the shoot freshly groomed and ready to have his picture taken but that didn’t last long. I was so impressed that when Blue found some water to play around in Kasey and Taylor were right behind him which means we were right behind them! I love it when our clients are up for anything!

Just In Case You Need To Reach Us

Hi everybody!  Just wanted to let you all know that we have a new number, 303.495.3630.  We’ve added this number so that our Denver and Evergreen area clients can reach us without having to dial us long distance.  Summit County clients-you can still reach us locally at 333.0594.  For the rest of the country, you can reach us toll-free, as always, at 877.467.4680.  The 970.279.4135 number is still active but we will be phasing this out within the next few months.

There you have it, every possible way to reach us by phone, though I must admit, e-mail is probably the most effective.  We work incredibly odd hours so it’s much easier for me to respond to an e-mail at 1am than it would be to try and call you!  I’m sure most of you wouldn’t appreciate that!  E-mail: info@inphotography.net

Have a great day!

Josh’s Senior Portraits

Last week we headed down to Monument for Josh’s senior portraits.  Two years ago Josh moved to Canada to pursue his hockey career so this was a very special session considering he was only home visiting for a couple of weeks.  Keep your eye out for this guy, with any luck we’ll be seeing him in the NHL within the next few years!

On Top Of The World

Last week Mark took a drive up to the top of Squaw Mountain.  I love these photographs he took of the clouds rolling in.
