We were able to snap a quick photo this morning. The fawn doesn’t move much, we’re dying to see her get up and move around. She is alive, we do know that. Mom patrols outside of our yard on all of the surrounding properties. It’s very interesting to watch. So here’s the first photo and I’m sure we’ll have more.

Much of the day was spent trying to get the deer to move on and out of our yard. Mark put together some homemade pepper spray, recipe courtesy of the Division of Wildlife (all the advice they had to offer), and sprayed down the perimeter of our yard. She was out of sight for about a half hour so, with our hopes high, we brought Cozmo outside. Within a few short minutes she was back and ready to go after Cozmo.
Finally this afternoon everything made sense. We left for a hike and upon our return found a baby fawn running besides its mom in our backyard! We feel just terrible for what we’ve done the last three days trying to get her to go away. Since the fawn is now in our yard and two small to hop the fence, we’re going to give it a few days and see what happens. The crazy thing is, this deer doesn’t have any problems with us. She was outside of our fence “patrolling the area” while we were standing about six feet from the fawn. Needless to say, we’ll have some photos to share once it’s daylight out so check back Friday afternoon!
