Some Freestyle Portraits Right Here in Evergreen!

We absolutely love that our job affords us the opportunity to travel but it was pretty exciting when we only had to drive 10 minutes to today’s portrait session!

We met up with Amy at the Highland Haven for some fun freestyle portraits of her three daughters, stepson & nephew. These guys loved the camera which means I loved them!

Here are some of my favorites from today:

Good Times

We’ve been super busy with company the last couple of weeks-that’s my excuse for the lack of activity here on the blog! We had a great time while my mom was here over the weekend. I have some fun and funny photos to share.

On Saturday we hung out in Keystone for the afternoon. We got some passes and headed up the gondola to relax on top of the mountain for a bit. It was such a gorgeous day with amazing views. That evening we had a blast watching The Hazel Miller Band at the Dillon amphitheater. (You may remember them from Jen & Jarrett’s wedding.) I’ve never had so much fun watching a band perform. We’re seriously hoping to have them at our wedding. If that works out, we’re guaranteed to have an amazing party!

I love this shot Mark took from the top of Keystone looking down onto Lake Dillon.

There’s nothing better than an outdoor concert overlooking Lake Dillon in the middle of the summer.

Karma

I told my dad a few months back about karma. It’s a concept in which he now lives by and I always have. Over the last three years Mark and I have put our hearts and souls into our business. Everyday we work harder and harder to see that we provide our clients with the best possible experience. We get so caught up in the day to day that sometimes it’s hard to tell if our hard work is paying off. Well, many of our clients have been kind enough lately to take the time to let us know that they are quite happy with what they see. I wanted to share a few of the notes we’ve received lately…they make me smile!

Michele and Mark,
You have to check out this wedding that Joe and I went to a couple of days after ours. I knew that I loved my pics but after seeing this I just wanted to let you know that your work is so far above average it’s unbelievable. Thank you, thank you, thank you! -Rachel

Hi Mark and Michele,
How is it that Jen and Jarrett were so lucky to have found you. We were so glad to meet you at their wedding. Both of you are fantastic people. Not only do you take the most wonderful pictures of people and events but you made us all feel comfortable and like family to you. We absolutely love the pictures that are posted. The day after the wedding we were together in a large group and went on your website. What a thrill to be able to see the photos so soon. Thank you for being you and for giving us fantastic photo memories of a great day. -Sincerely, Judy (Mother of Bride)

We continue to work as hard as we can and hope that word will spread so that we can keep this little thing called IN Photography going for the next few years. We love what we do and are so lucky to work with the wonderful people that we do.

Thank you to everyone that enjoys and appreciates our photography!

Stepping Stones

Today is the first day in weeks that we didn’t get an afternoon storm.  As much as I love the rain, the crystal clear blue skies today were beautiful and a welcome break.  We took advantage and spent the evening hiking around Squaw Pass.

The dirt trail led to this, a path of stepping stones to cross the water.  I love stumbling upon things like this.

Some Random Things & Curious Thoughts

So our trip to Gunnison was a bit of a bust. I had high hopes since I knew how lucky I would be if I could get our venue decision out of the way without much research. I guess we weren’t so lucky! That’s okay though since our guests might not have been thrilled to drive hours and hours out to the middle of rural Colorado. So, now the search is on! Anybody have any suggestions for an awesome mountain setting where we can have our ceremony & reception and accommodate all our guests? We’re all ears!

Since we posted that we were engaged a lot of you have come out of hiding to wish us congrats. Thank you!!! This brings me to my next thought. We love checking our stats and seeing that there are a lot of you out there reading this but we’re dying to know who you are!!!! So come on, humor us and just give us a little hint of who you are…

By the way, thanks for reading!

The Wedding Planning Has Begun!

We’re off to Gunnison, Colorado Monday & Tuesday to hopefully (fingers crossed) reserve the property where we want to have our wedding next year. We’ll be back on Wednesday with many photos to share from our trip. Until then, here is a shot that Mark took of me last time we were there.

P.S. We won’t have access to e-mail but we will be able to take phone calls while we are out of town.

Mike & Amy

On Saturday Mike & Amy were married at Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge, Colorado. Mike & Amy are such an awesome couple, we were so excited to be a part of their wedding. Their day was flawless and I loved that their dog Tank go to be a part of it all. I’m completely jealous that they are now in the Caribbean chartering their own sailboat!

Amy was just glowing before the ceremony.

We’re Engaged!

It’s official! After living together for the last five years and being “together” for the last three we’ve decided to tie the knot! Last Saturday during our evening hike we sat down at a bench for a break when, to my complete surprise, Mark held out my grandmother’s ring and proposed. Yes, my grandmother’s ring that my mom had been wearing ever since she passed. I can’t put into words how much it means to have this ring.

Since we make a living photographing other people’s weddings we’re always talking about what we’ll do for our wedding. Because we talk about getting married on a semi-regular basis I was extremely concerned that it wouldn’t be that big of a deal for me when Mark actually proposed. Luckily, on Saturday, I discovered that I actually am a girl and do have a heart, when I immediately broke into tears as he proposed. It’s such a weird feeling to go to other people’s weddings nearly every weekend and now have to plan my own. We couldn’t be more excited and will share all the details here as they come. Our biggest challenge…choosing a photographer! We’ll definitely keep you posted.

Our friend Scott Dressel-Martin was kind enough to shoot a couple photos of us while we were out photographing his kids the other night.

Summer Fun with Friends

Yesterday our friends Scott & Amy came over for a BBQ with their kids Sophie & Taage. Scott is an awesome photographer who was one of our instructors back when we attended the Art Institute. Since moving back to Colorado last year, we’ve had the opportunity to become good friends with him and his family. After dinner we headed over to the open space park by our house for a little mini photo session with the kids.

Sophie skipping down the trail. I just love her pink cowboy boots!

I’m so impressed by how well these two get along. I remember quite well how badly my little brother annoyed me when I was their age!

It wasn’t hard to get a big grin out of Taage since he lost his very first tooth the same morning!
