Sunny Sunday

With such frigid temperatures lately it was pretty exciting to wake up this morning and see the thermometer reading 46 degrees!  It’s been way too long since the dogs got out for a good hike so we were out the door in no time!  Here are a few fun photos that Mark took while we were out.

Style Me Pretty

Seeing that it’s a slow time of year for us, business-wise, and our wedding is less than six months away, I’m in full planning mode.  I love searching the web for fun ideas and inspiring visuals.  I came a cross a blog called Style Me Pretty and wanted to be sure that I shared it here with all my brides that are hard at work planning their weddings as well.  There are some great tips and some really fun photos to look at.  She’s also awesome at updating the blog daily.  (I wish I could say the same for myself!)  Be sure to check it out at www.stylemepretty.com

Save The Date

Today I sent out our Save The Date cards and I thought it would be fun to share some of the little projects that I’ve decided to do on my own for the wedding. I designed the cards myself and had them printed at our lab. As for addressing the envelopes I bought some full sheet labels and typed out our return address and the delivery address on the same line. This created one long label that wrapped around the envelope. All I had to do was print, cut and adhere. I, personally, think they turned out great and they were super easy to do!

It took us a few months but we finally set a date for our wedding. On June 19th we will be the couple on the other side of the camera. I’m quickly learning that there is a lot to planning a wedding but all in all we’re both getting super excited! After much debate we finally decided to do it right here in Evergreen, which now, thinking back, seems like a no-brainer. Since the majority of our guests will be traveling from out of state we decided to set up a wedding website to help everyone out with their travel plans. I highly recommend this to other couples as it’s such a useful tool for your guests. We used iweb to put our site together but www.weddingwindow.com as well as www.ewedding.com are some great wedding website resources.

You know that “guns and tequila” category in the tool bar has your interest, go ahead and check it out, we have nothing to hide! www.markandmichele.com

Best Buds

It’s been almost two months since we adopted Kaia and it’s been so much fun watching her become a part of our family. At first Cozmo didn’t want to have much to do with her and look at them now. They’re getting along so well, I just love watching them become friends.

We must have a thousand shots of Cozmo, we’re working on getting Kaia caught up. I love these two.

She loves to sleep on the chair next to my desk.

A Look Back At 2007: Favorite Freestyle Portraits

I thought I would continue through the rest of this week posting some of my favorite things from 2007.  Although we only shoot a few portrait sessions on the side for fun, I had a blast with the families we worked with this year.  I noticed something interesting though as I was browsing through all the portrait sessions we did in 2007.  My absolute favorite photographs were from time we spent at my cousin’s home in California and our good friend’s home in Arizona.  The difference with their photographs is that nothing changes when we show up at their homes.  We go hang out with them and bring along our cameras and they go about their regular routines while catching up with us.  Therefore, their images turn out looking the most real, the most unrehearsed.  To me, there is something really special about photographing a family in this way.  So, this year my goal will be to convince more people that this is a wonderful way to do a photography session.  Hopefully it will be a success!  For now, here are a few of my favorite portraits of 2007.  Enjoy!
