Juno

I just have to take a minute to rave about Juno. It’s my new favorite little movie that could since Little Miss Sunshine. I had never before heard of Ellen Page but I’ll definitely be on the lookout for her in future films. If you’re in the mood for a quirky comedy, be sure to check it out!

P.S. I’m on an “oldie but goodie” movie kick. I just watched When Harry Met Sally the other night and realized that I don’t think I’ve ever watched that movie in it’s entirety. I’d love to hear some of your favorites from “back in the day.” Leave a comment or shoot me an e-mail, michele@inphotography.net.

IN Photography Redesign

Today you’ll notice that things look a little different here at IN Photography. We’re constantly trying to keep things fresh and functional around here so we decided to remove our splash page (the page with the buttons that directed you to portfolio, studio journal or client galleries) and incorporate it here on the blog. From now on www.inphotography.net will bring you straight here to the blog. If you want to visit other areas of our site, just click on the links at the top of the page. We hope you like the new look!

The Search for the Perfect Dress

I’ve quickly learned in my search for the perfect wedding dress that I don’t have a clue about who’s who in the wedding fashion market. Thank goodness for my friend Lauren who’s always filling me in on the latest and greatest fashions that are available. I had no idea that JCrew had a wedding department and I’m in love with their dresses. They’re so simple yet stylish AND affordable! I also discovered the amazing creations of Stephanie James Couture and absolutely fell in love. Lauren and I had a blast over at the chic Denver bridal store Anna-be a couple weeks ago. I love that I got Lauren to try on a dress with me. Aren’t these Stephanie James dresses adorable!

I Love Surprises!

This past weekend Mark’s parents and sisters drove all the way out from Iowa to spend the weekend with us.  We had a fabulous time and I can’t wait to do it again.  On Saturday Michelle & Melissa knocked our socks off with a huge surprise.  They brought with them, all the way from Iowa, tons of gifts from everyone in the family and threw us a surprise bridal shower.  I’m telling you, it’s one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for Mark & I.  I was completely blown away.  After that fun little celebration with just six of us, I can hardly wait for the wedding.  Needless to say, we had a great day that Saturday and an excellent time that weekend having them here in town.

It was a gorgeous weekend.  Here’s Mark’s parents while out on our walk.

Love It!

Lately I’ve been going through our huge collection of wedding images trying to see everything with a new set of eyes.  You have no idea how hard that is after looking at these photos SO much!  My eyes have been trained to go straight to certain images and overlook others.  I’m trying to go back and re-examine those that have been hastily overlooked.  I do this in an effort to not use the same images over and over again in all of our promotional materials and website.  I just had to share these images that I’ve dug up that are now some of my favorites.

Registry Alternatives

It took Mark and I awhile to decide if we actually wanted to register. We feel that our guests taking the time and spending the money it takes to travel all the way to Colorado for our wedding is a huge gift in itself and all we could really ask for. All the married experts in our lives told us that if we didn’t register we’d end up with a bunch of stuff we didn’t really want. Though we went ahead and registered, and did find some cool stuff that we would like to have, we found a great registry alternative that we love. The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is an amazing animal shelter in Southern Utah. They’ve recently been in the press for rescuing and providing rehabilitation to 22 of the Michael Vick pit bulls. For $25 you can sponsor a pet at Best Friends. I absolutely love this idea. We’ve added this to our registry page on our website. I cannot wait to see if I get a note in the mail saying that someone sponsored a dog for us!

If your a dog love like me (or a cat, horse, bird lover, etc.) this is a great establishment to support. Also remember that your local shelters can also use financial support as well as supplies. Most shelters websites have a wish list of supplies that they are in need of such as paper towels, dog food, etc. that is super easy to pick up next time you are at the store and drop off at your local shelter.

2007 Album Wrap Up

Last week I shipped off our very last album for 2007. Before we start shooting 2008 weddings and designing new albums I wanted to share some of my favorite designs from last year.

First off, one of my favorite detail spreads. This is from Kasey & Taylor’s gorgeous 12×12 album.

This album was a 9×9 for one of the coolest couples ever, Jen & Jarrett.

You can’t help but have an incredible time when The Hazel Miller Band is on stage. (They’ll be doing the entertaining at our wedding…I CANNOT wait!)

I love this spread from Mike & Amy’s 9×9 album simply for the sweetest moment that I captured between Amy & her dad prior to the ceremony.

Rachel & Joe’s wedding was all about color! I had so much fun incorporating that into their 9×9 album.

Cory’s fuschia dress made for an album unlike any other that I’ve done in the past.

Tracy & Ned had the party of the year! I designed my first ever 14×10 horizontal album for them and it turned out amazing!
