Dylan Hooper 2005-2008

Mark’s nephew, Dylan, was born three years ago with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome. For the last three years he was a little warrior, fighting with all he had to beat all the odds. Today he lost the battle but we know that he is going home to a better place. His time here changed so many lives and I know that his spirit will forever live on through his mom, dad and two brothers. This incredible little guy will be dearly, dearly missed.

Updated to add: Dylan’s mom, Melissa, founded Help-A-Heart two years ago in Dylan’s honor to assist families of children with chronic heart defects.  The foundation will continue in Dylan’s memory.  Donations can be sent to:

A HUGE thank you to Jenna & Matt Walker, our wedding photographers, who were gracious enough to stop by our house yesterday morning and give us all the photos they had taken of Dylan at our wedding.  These images will be treasured forever.

This is one of my favorite moments that Jenna captured.

Andy & Chrissy @ Meadow Creek B&B

Two weeks ago we spent the day at Meadow Creek Bed & Breakfast in Pine for Chrissy & Andy’s wedding.  We had just met Chrissy & Andy but it was obvious that these two are completely in love.  Their ceremony was so incredibly heartfelt and sincere.  It was a pleasure to be a part of their wedding.

Photo Booth Madness!

Months ago I decided that for our wedding I didn’t want any ordinary guest book. I wanted to create a book filled with fun, black and white portraits of everyone that attended. To make this work we set up a small photo booth where everyone could take pictures of themselves. It was a huge hit and we went home with 600 photos that I absolutely love! These photos will always remind me of how much fun everyone had. Here are just a few of my favorites but be sure to check out the slideshow at the bottom to see the whole show!

We’re Married!

This past week has been the most amazing week of our lives!  I’ve been to many weddings but now I know firsthand that there are absolutely no words to describe what it is like to not only vow to spend the rest of your life with someone but to do it out loud in front of all your closest family and friends.  It was, without a doubt, the happiest moment of my life.  I was completely overwhelmed looking around at all the people that had come so far just to be with Mark & I.  To everyone that was here with us, it wouldn’t have been the same without you.  We’ll never be able to thank you enough for being here to celebrate with us, you all mean the world to us!

Killing Time

I thought it would be fun to share some of my self-proclaimed “road art.”  These are just a couple of the many shots I took from inside the car with our little Canon point and shoot camera.  This was my means of killing time during the long drive to Arizona.

Kaia’s Day On The Lake

While we were in Arizona we learned, to our surprise, that Kaia LOVES the water.  Cozmo hates the water so we were quite entertained watching Kaia fetch sticks and chase after ducks one afternoon when we went out on the boat.  We’re steadily working on catching Kaia’s photo collection up to Cozmo’s : )

I love this shot that I snagged at the last minute as we were pulling into the marina!

We’re Getting Married! (and taking the week off!)

This week we’ll be getting married and we’re taking the week off to celebrate with all our friends and family that have been gracious enough to travel all the way out here to Colorado to be with us.  We sincerely appreciate your patience during this exciting time in our lives.  We’ll be sure to respond to every e-mail and voicemail next week!  I’ve got some fun posts in queue though so be sure to keep stopping by as the blog will still be in business!

Dan & Jessica in Evergreen

We’re shooting weddings at several killer locations this year but my guess is that Dan & Jessica’s is going to be my favorite. We were lucky enough to get a preview of the location when we met up with them for their engagement portrait session. Their wedding will take place on the property they live on where there are unobstructed views of Mt. Evans and not a neighbor in sight. Dan & Jessica are such a super cool couple, I can’t wait for the wedding!

Jack, Carolyn, Evan & Haley at Home in Evergreen

Thanks to one of our lovely clients we were introduced to Carolyn who is an awesome guitarist.  She will be playing at our ceremony and I can’t wait!  Just listening to the few songs she played for us when we first met gave me the chills.

Last weekend we met up with Carolyn and her family at their home for a few freestyle portraits.

So In Love…

I love photographing engagement portraits. There is just something so fun and carefree about photographing a newly engaged couple and I always love the results. So imagine just how excited I was when I got home last night to find out that our very own engagement portraits were ready to view! I love them all and have no idea what I’m going to do with them all. If you want to check out the slideshow click here. For the first half of our session we hung out and home with the dogs then we headed over to Elk Meadow where Mark proposed.

Thank you Jenna & Matt for creating such beautiful images for us! I will treasure them forever!
