Just for the fun of it we thought we would take the dogs and hike to the top of a 14,000 foot peak two weeks ago. We made it to 13,500 feet and learned a few lessons. For instance, start earlier than noon, WAY earlier, and bring the right gear! The storms in Colorado roll in quickly and at 13,500 we had a feeling we needed to get down quickly. Sure enough it rained, it hailed and the temperatures plummetted. It took us an hour and a half to get down but we made it. Thanks to REI, we’re now fully equipped with the proper water-proof gear. Next time we will make it to the top!

This is as high as we got. The car is down there on the road in the middle of the image.

Amazing!
