We’re home after a quick trip back to Kansas City & Iowa to visit Mark’s family. This was my first time visiting Iowa during the summer. This meant that I finally got to tour Mark’s grandparent’s farm, definitely the highlight of the trip for me. I grew up in LA and Arizona so getting to learn a little bit about farming was absolutely fascinating to me. Mark’s 81 year old grandfather still works on the farm and is living proof that age is only a number. I was in awe listening to him tell us about how much farming has changed over the years. He told us how when he started farming corn rows were planted as wide as a horse’s butt. The man started farming with horses before most modern day equipment was even available. Completely fascinating! Here are a few photos I snapped while spending the afternoon at the Long family farm.

SOOOOOOOOO COOL! I absolutely admire any and all farmers. I love this blog! My cousin married into a family that runs a 300 acre farm in Indiana. that life, isn’t it so wonderful!? So glad you enjoyed yourself!!! Did you read the blog(s) I wrote about the farm I visited? miss you!!!!

Helps me not take for granted the beauty of Iowa. You sometimes forget. So glad you two visited and that you enjoyed your day with Grandma and Grandpa. I’m sure it was a highlight for them too.

Lindsay-
We would love to come see your “farm”! I’m sure Mark has tons of gardening questions for Adam at this point! We’ve had a few losses but all in all it’s coming along!
Love the white barn photo. I can just picture it in a huge canvas….yummy symmetry!!
