There are some photographers out there that are true artists when it comes to newborn photography.  I am not one of them.  However, this time in a family’s history is fleeting and, in my opinion, so important to document.  So…when it comes to friends and family I pretend.  I pretend like I know what I’m doing.  I pretend like I have some kind of experience handling these beautiful little creatures even though I have none.  I’m not sure what to do when they cry, when they pee everywhere, but I pretend, even though I’m sure it’s written all over my face that I’m wondering what have I gotten myself in to.  Luckily I do feel that I always achieve my goal, which is to walk away with at least a few photographs that the family can have forever to remember this very, very special time in their lives.  Meet Kelly, Paul, their daughter Riley and their eldest child…I mean dog, Dooley : )
