We have had the opportunity to photograph some spectacular weddings at some truly unique Colorado wedding destinations.  As you may imagine, the winter lays down a heavy blanket of snow and transforms mountain wedding venues in to a sight like something straight out of a movie.  Below is a list of some of our most favorite winter venues in the Colorado Rockies.  We hope to return to each one very soon!

\/  1.  Devil’s Thumb Ranch, Tabernash, Colorado
Devil’s Thumb Ranch is a 6000 acre ranch resort and spa located in Tabernash, Colorado, about 10 minutes from Winter Park.  While Devil’s Thumb is the perfect mountain wedding setting any time of year, I find it especially magical during the winter.  The views of the snow-capped peak along the Continental Divide are spectacular and the alpenglow at sunset is out of this world.  Some of the best sunsets we’ve ever photographed at a wedding have been at Devil’s Thumb in the winter.  Both hotel rooms and private cabins are available making it convenient for you and your guests to all stay at the ranch.  You can cross-country ski and snowshoe onsite, spend a day at the Ranch Creek Spa and much more, meaning your entire wedding weekend can be spent in Colorado luxury without ever leaving the property.

\/  2.  Allie’s Cabin, Beaver Creek, Colorado
We have had the privilege of photographing one winter wedding at Allie’s Cabin and have never been to a venue quite like it since.  You see, there are no roads leading to Allie’s Cabin in the winter.  It is located, literally, on the ski slopes of Beaver Creek.  To get to Allie’s Cabin, you and your guests will embark on one of the most scenic sleigh rides Colorado has to offer.  Bring your jackets, Beaver Creek will provide the blankets, and sit back and enjoy the ride.  Once you arrive at the cabin you’ll feel worlds away from your hectic day-to-day.  Out front is the ski run, out back-sprawling views of the valley, all while surrounded by a pristine aspen grove.  Sit inside by the fire, enjoy the incredible food and let the setting offer a wedding better than anything you could have ever dreamed of.

\/  3.  Allred’s, Telluride, Colorado.
The Colorado Rockies offer some of the most spectacular wedding venues in the country.  Even more so during the winter.  Like Allie’s Cabin (above) we’ve never been to another wedding venue quite like Allred’s.  As you can see in the photo below, Allred’s sits at the edge of Mountain Village overlooking downtown Telluride in the valley below, offering some of the most majestic mountain views you will ever lay your eyes on.  To reach Allred’s, you and your guests can easily leave your hotel downtown and walk to the free gondola which, after a breathtaking ride up the mountain, will drop you right at Allred’s.

\/  4.  Saddle Ridge, Beaver Creek, Colorado.
Saddle Ridge is located at the base of the slopes in Beaver Creek and is home to the largest collection of American western antique furnishings and artifacts outside of a museum  It’s humble exterior will be reason for surprise when you step inside and see this rustic yet elegant Colorado restaurant.  Treat your guests to an incredible dining experience and bookend your wedding weekend with skiing at one of Colorado’s finest ski resorts.

\/  5.  Alpenglow Stube, Keystone, Colorado.
Alpenglow Stube, located at 11,444 feet above sea level on North Peak in Keystone, requires not one but two gondola rides to get to it.  An experience you and your guests will not soon forget.  The intimate setting and mountain views will make you feel like you have the entire mountain all to yourselves.

\/  6.  Rubywood, Breckenridge, Colorado.
Rubywood is a one-of-a-kind residence located high on the eastern side of Breckenridge overlooking the Ten Mile Range and ski runs across the valley.  The perfect setting for a small, winter wedding in the Colorado mountains.  Not only can Rubywood serve as your wedding location but also your accommodations for you and your closest friends and family.  Enjoy the privacy of this mountain retreat while only being 10 minutes from all the shopping, skiing and activities that Breckenridge has to offer.
