When I first met Maggie & Nick last year, I asked them what they were most excited about for their wedding day.  Maggie, without hesitation, answered “Marrying Nick”.  The answer to this question tells us a lot about what we can expect from a couple’s wedding day and as soon as I heard Maggie’s reply, I knew their wedding would be perfect.  I knew this because all they needed was each other to have the perfect day, everything else would simply be icing on the cake.  Fast forward to June 19th and their Breckenridge wedding was everything I’d been anticipating.  Maggie & Nick were crazy happy, their nieces and nephews were even more adorable than they had described and their families were brimming with joy because obviously, these two are totally meant for one another.

Here’s a peek at some of our favorites from their Ten Mile Station wedding on Peak 9, including some inside scoop from Maggie & Nick on their perfect day…

In one sentence, how would you describe your wedding day?

Maggie: Perfect! It was an amazing feeling to be surrounded by all of our friends and family and the day was picture-perfect.

Nick: I couldn’t describe it any better than Maggie did, it was absolutely amazing!

What was your favorite part of the day?

Maggie: It’s hard to narrow down… but if I have to choose, I had two favorites. Saying our vows and our first dance. I had no idea how overwhelmed with emotion I would become with saying our vows. It was that real moment, of “AHH, I am getting married” that felt so perfect and truly special. For our first dance, we had secretly taken dance lessons to choreograph a dance, and I had a blast dancing to a song I love with the man I love. Our toasts from the best man, my maid of honor and dad were pretty awesome as well!  🙂

Nick: My favorite part of the day was the First Look.  I had at first not wanted to do this, but ended up wanting to save some time on the back end to spend with all of our family and friends that had made the journey out here and the haul up the mountains.  The one thing that I didn’t think of in this choice was how nervous I would be before the wedding, getting to see Maggie for a First Look helped me calm the nerves before the wedding and was exactly what I needed.

What was the best part about marrying in the mountains?

Maggie: We spend so much time in the mountains, it just felt right to get married in the mountains as well. I think the best part was the ease and relaxed feeling from everyone we worked with during the planning process. Being in the mountains always brings a feeling of serenity, and I think that helped set the tone for the day.

Nick: The best part of getting married in the mountains was getting to show everyone how gorgeous our state is.  We spend a lot of time in the mountains and it was wonderful showing everyone why we love it so much.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before your wedding?
How fast everything would go.  Everyone tells you leading up to the wedding about how fast everything will go, but I didn’t want to believe it. It was the fastest 3-4 days that I think I have ever experienced in my life.

If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently?

Maggie: I would not change a thing. I had a blast planning, without worrying too much about the small details, so the wedding day was relaxed but full of love, joy and excitement.
Nick: I really don’t think I would change anything.  I loved the venue, the band, and of course we had the most amazing photographers that kept us smiling and enjoying every part of the day.

Any advice for couples planning their mountain weddings?

Maggie: The mountains are a great wedding destination – the setting is gorgeous and will lend itself to beautiful pictures! Be sure to get up to the mountains a few days early to take care of any last minute details, but it also gave me time to relax with my family before the festivities began. We also had a welcome party and park outing the day after the wedding, which gave us lots of extra time to spend with our out of town guests. I would recommend planning as many other events as you can to get extra time in with your friends and family that are traveling from out of town!

Nick: A few tidbits that I have for couples planning their wedding in the mountains is that everything is going to fly by, so if you can, get up there a few days early to relax a little and enjoy the mountains before everyone gets in town and you go into hosting mode.  The second piece of advice is that you have to have a relaxed attitude and understand that it is the mountains and that you will never be able to guess the weather.  One of the things that we talked about from day one was the fact that it could be 80 degrees out or it may rain or snow in June.  We both wanted an outdoor wedding, but also knew the risks and made a deal that no one would be upset no matter what the weather turned out to be. Luckily it was absolutely gorgeous, but it wouldn’t have mattered if it wasn’t.
