Catamount Ranch in Steamboat Springs is such a dreamy setting for a Colorado destination wedding. I absolutely love the grassy meadows, the pristine lake and the panoramic views of the Yampa Valley. Before kicking off the happiest evening of their lives, Beth & Mike exchanged vows at the equally beautiful Holy Name Catholic Church in downtown Steamboat. I’m super excited to share this gorgeous day so let’s get on to the photos and Q&A with Beth & Mike!
In one sentence, how would you describe your wedding day?
Beth: By far the best day of my life because I got to marry my best friend and because I was surrounded by the most important people in my life.
Mike: Perfect in every way, far exceeded any expectations.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Beth: It’s extremely hard to pick my favorite part, but I would say walking down the aisle with my father to see Mike for the first time – nothing can top that. Also being surrounded my all my favorite family and friends was by far the best feeling ever. Never will we both feel so much love from so many people all at once.
Mike: It is impossible to pick a “favorite.” Some highlights for me include seeing Beth for the first time, walking down the aisle together, getting introduced at the reception, the first dance and the crazy dance party. We will never forget the feeling of having those we love most all in one place to support us.
What was the best part about marrying in the mountains?
Beth: We consider Steamboat our second home because that is where my sisters and parents live, so we try to get there as much as we can. We could never imagine getting married anywhere else; there is no better way to spend the best day of your life than surrounded by beautiful Colorado. Nothing beats the scenery, lakes and weather. The best part was having all our guests out there for a few days to enjoy all the awesome things like hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing and golf.
Mike: The scenery, and the access to activities for our guests.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before your wedding?
Beth: Because you are in an amazing place that most people haven’t been to, all your guests will have an awesome time, even if something does not go as planned.
Mike: It’s impossible to have a conversation with everyone, so don’t feel bad if you don’t.
If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently?
Beth: Not a thing, it was perfect. I say every day I wish I could do it over again because it was honestly the best day of my life.
Mike: We were too busy dancing, but it would have been fun to grab Beth and just watch the crowd for a few minutes.
Any advice for couples planning their mountain weddings?
Beth: Incorporate local culture into your wedding somehow, if possible (for example – with food, decorations, music).
Mike: Take every advantage of the outdoors, your guests will love it. We had a backyard BBQ on Thursday night followed by local bars, organized horseback riding and fly fishing for Friday morning, hosted mountain side welcome drinks on Friday night, and had an outdoor reception on Saturday.
