Is there anything more beautiful than two people vowing to grow old together? I think not, but it sure doesn’t hurt to do so surrounded by 360º of raw Colorado beauty. In August Andrea & Luke did just that at their family’s ranch in Steamboat Springs. Thunder, lightning, rain and rainbows circled us all day long but the sun never stopped shining down. It was quite a day, to say the least. Congrats to this beautiful couple! A little peek at their celebration…
In one sentence, how would you describe your wedding day?
Andrea: Every part of the day turned out better than I even imagined, I just wish I could have slowed the day down so it lasted longer!
Luke: It was wonderful and all went according to plan.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Andrea: I honestly love every part of the day for different reasons so it’s hard to choose a favorite!
Luke: Being able to gather with friends and family for an awesome party.
What was the best part about marrying in the mountains?
Andrea: The natural beauty that surrounds you makes for the perfect setting. Also, since ours was a destination wedding we were worried about people not traveling to celebrate with us, but more people actually came because they love Colorado.
Luke: The beautiful scenery and wonderful weather.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before your wedding?
Andrea: I was stressing over all the small details and in the grand scheme of things people won’t notice if something didn’t turn out exactly how you planned.
Luke: There were certain details that I believed to be really important during planning, but they ended up being mostly unnoticed so I could’ve saved some money.
If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently?
Andrea: Everything turned out so perfect, I really wouldn’t change anything.
Luke: We chose to have a midnight snack, which we thought would be a good idea, but they were not announced so guests didn’t even know about them and it all went mostly uneaten.
Any advice for couples planning their mountain weddings?
Andrea: If you are doing a destination wedding in Colorado I strongly encourage you to use a wedding planner, I couldn’t have pulled it all together without one.
Luke: Try to make it your own and there is no reason to go overboard with flowers and decorations, just use the scenery as your backdrop.
