I’ve been dying to share this wedding since the day we shot it back in September.  I’ll be honest, I had some nerves going in to this wedding.  Leading up to the big day, Brittany had a lot of questions.  I think she had very specific expectations for her day and I wanted to be sure those expectations were met exceeded.  I should be clear, I am more than happy to answer questions.  But when I sense high expectations, my concern is that a bride will get so caught up on the day-of worrying that everything is going perfectly that she misses what’s actually happening…her wedding day.  This was in no way the case for Brittany.  All the planning and preparation paid off and Brittany & Eric’s day could not have been more flawless.  From the moment they laid eyes on each other for the first time, all that mattered to these two was the very moment in time in which they were in.  They soaked up every single second of their day while radiating bliss and gratitude for the love they share and the love that surrounded them.  They knew they hired a great team and they let us all do our thing while letting themselves do nothing but enjoy the greatest day of their lives.  I can hardly express what an honor it was to be a part of this day.  To witness a love and a bond that will no doubt, last a lifetime.

Since their wedding day, Brittany has had nothing but the kindest things to say about their experience with us.  In the Q&A with Brittany & Eric at the end of this post you’ll see that Brittany replied she would not change a thing when asked if she’d do anything differently.  To know that our clients got everything they hoped for and more on their wedding day, absolutely makes my day!  To Brittany & Eric, thank you for the honor of documenting your love and your first day of marriage.

Here is all the love, beauty and happiness that was Brittany & Eric’s Keystone wedding at Timber Ridge…

Eric proposed on a 14er (they’ve climbed over 20 together!) so it was perfect having two 14ers (Gray’s & Torrey’s) in the background of their first look.

Of the countless Timber Ridge weddings we’ve photographed, this was the first ceremony we’ve seen take place on the ski run instead of the deck.  The terrain isn’t super easy to walk on but Brittany handled it like a pro and looking at the photos, it was totally worth the walk.  The deck doesn’t offer panoramic views quite like this:

The sweetest moments always happen right after the walk back down the aisle:

How would you describe your wedding day?

Brittany: Our wedding day was better than I could have ever imagined. It was a lot of hard work and planning but in the end it was worth it, and I can say it truly was the best day of my life.

Eric: I’ve never been happier than this day… Everything lined up perfectly to create a day that I can honestly call the best of my life.

What was your favorite part of the day?

Brittany: There are so many parts I could call my favorite, our first look, the ceremony, the celebrating and dancing…but my absolute favorite memory was stating our vows, and then making it official by being proclaimed as husband and wife for the very first time!

Eric: I can say without question, my favorite part of the day was seeing Brittany walk down the aisle. I would also have to say seeing the moose cross the field right in front of us during our photos was really cool too!

You originally did not want to see each other prior to the ceremony.  What made you change your mind and are you glad you did?

Brittany: At first I was hesitant because I wanted to try and keep tradition, but in the end I am so thankful we did a first look. Seeing Eric for the first time was very emotional and extremely meaningful, and by doing it before the ceremony we were able to share this intimate moment alone, and have it captured in amazing pictures, rather than experiencing it for the first time in front of all our guests.

Eric: Waiting for Brittany at the top of the mountain took a little longer than I expected, mainly because I was so anxious to see her, but in the end the wait was worth it when I saw her for the first time, especially because a first look allowed this moment to be between just us.

What was the best part about marrying in the mountains?

Brittany: We decided we wanted a mountain wedding because we love the outdoors! Eric proposed on a 14er (La Plata) and we are both Colorado natives spending most of our free time in the mountains, it’s where we feel most at home, but when it really came down to it, we decided what better place to make our covenant to one another than in a setting that shows God’s beautiful creation.

Eric: To me the mountains represent the best times of my life, so I wanted the most important day of my life to take place in the same setting, also seeing God’s presence everywhere.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before your wedding?

Brittany: Getting married in the mountains allows for an interactive experience with wildlife… and Birds may try and eat your communion bread if left out in the open : ) But, I can honestly say it is these little unexpected happenings that in the end have added great memories to our mountain wedding experience!

Eric: There’s way more decisions than I would have ever thought.

If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently?

Brittany: I feel very blessed to be able to say that I wouldn’t change a thing!

Eric: If I could do it all over again I would make it a two day celebration, rather than just one night because it was the best party ever!

Any advice for couples planning their mountain weddings?

Brittany: Remember to have fun! The mountains are amazing and will provide the perfect setting for your wedding, but no matter how the weather ends up, or details turn out, what is most important is whom you are committing your life to. Remember to take some moments, stop and take it all in, the day will fly by!

Eric: Know that it might take a little more effort than a local wedding, but know that it is well worth it in the end, and it will be a great time for everyone involved!

*We also want to say that we could not have had better photographers or photos to help us remember all these wonderful memories! Thanks to Mark and Michele, they not only provided a calming presence during the commotion of the day, but were able to capture the most intimate, fun, and best memories of our wedding! We are so lucky to have had the experience to work with them and will enjoy looking through our photos and reminiscing for years to come!
