In October, as soon as the craziness of wedding season settled, we packed our truck and hit the road for 40 days of camping throughout Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Anyone that knows us knows that road trips are our thing and camping for 2 or 4 or sometimes 6 weeks at a time is what we live for. The beauty of our business is that if we don’t have a shoot to be at, we can run our business from anywhere with an internet connection. So this fall, the wide open spaces of the Southwest served as our office, living room, backyard and playground. To many, 40 days without running water or tv or a place to get away from your spouse doesn’t sound like fun but for us, life on the road is heaven. It doesn’t come without it’s pitfalls but the reward of living in harmony with nature far outweighs the cons. Every few days we would wake to a new vista out our window, every night we would sit beside a warm fire beneath the stars. Life’s little nuances fade away and all that’s left is a deep appreciation for this beautiful planet that we so easily take for granted.
After living in less that 100 sq. ft. for over a month, we returned home wondering what all the stuff inside our 1600 sq. ft. house is really for. We didn’t miss a single thing. It’s fascinating to learn how little you need to be happy. As long as I have food, water, shelter and love in my life, I am blessed. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
A few of my favorite photos from the trip…
