I am so excited to share Christiana & Ben’s Beaver Creek wedding at Beano’s Cabin! If there were a template for the perfect wedding day, it would be Christiana & Ben’s wedding. The entire day was flawless. The weather couldn’t have been better. The leaves perfectly yellow, the sky perfectly blue speckled with puffy white clouds. Christiana & Ben perfectly engulfed in a state of bliss. Every last detail perfectly executed. We worked alongside an incredibly talented group of vendors and Christiana & Ben trusted us all to do what we do best while they did nothing but soak up every last moment of joy that was their mountain wedding celebration. Here’s a look at some of my favorite photos from their day…
How would you describe your wedding day?
Christiana: People always use the phrase “best day ever”, but it truly was the best day of my life. I just kept having to pinch myself that I was really marrying the man of my dreams, and that all of our very best friends and family had traveled from far and wide to be with us for our special day.
Ben: I couldn’t have said it any better
What was your favorite part of the day?
Christiana: My favorite part was our ceremony. We worked really hard on it and wrote it ourselves with the help of our incredible officiant, which we were really proud of. It was very personal and meaningful, and in the most beautiful setting we could have imagined.
Ben: My favorite was also the ceremony since it was capped with the Steeler’s terrible towel surprise. My wife definitely knows my style. I also thought that the bartenders at Beano’s did an excellent job as they were mixing up some great tasting and great looking cocktails.
How did you decide on a First Look and are you glad you saw each other prior to the ceremony?
Christiana: It was quite simple really….we wanted to get straight to the cocktails!! With a smaller wedding, it was important to us that we be able to talk to everyone there and enjoy the day. Plus, seeing Ben beforehand helped with my wedding nerves. The moment I saw him, the butterflies went away and it was a really special moment between the two of us.
Ben: Same here
What was the best part about marrying in the mountains?
Christiana: Our relationship has always had mountains as part of the story – our first date was skiing at Keystone, Ben proposed at Copper, and we got married at Beaver Creek. Ben and I both moved to Colorado for the mountains, and met each other there. It seemed really fitting for us, and plus they are absolutely gorgeous in the fall for a destination wedding.
Ben: Aside from the personal connection that we both have, there is a certain amount of majesty with the mountains that many of our families have never gotten to experience. We thought it would be fun to showcase to everybody one of the big reasons why we have not chosen to move back to our respective home towns.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before your wedding?
Christiana: That the day goes by so quickly, so do everything you can to enjoy it!
Ben: Trust that the people you have hired to orchestrate the big day know what they are doing and don’t sweat over the details. Instead spend the time up front to find the best people.
If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently?
Christiana: The only thing I would do differently would have been eat more of the food. I was so busy talking to everyone and dancing that I didn’t get to try everything! I guess if that’s the only thing I can think of, we had a pretty great day 🙂
Ben: I don’t think I would change anything.
Any advice for couples planning their mountain weddings?
Christiana: Make sure to have a plan B for bad weather, and also a good attitude about it. We chose Beano’s since the ceremony could have been moved inside if needed (we totally lucked out on the weather) but have had friends that were not so fortunate. The wedding will be great regardless, but have an indoor backup if rain with a tent would be a bummer for the big day. Also, that good photographers (IN Photography was absolutely amazing) and also a good wedding planner (we used Jessica Adler from JA Special Events who was also amazing), are both worth their weight in gold.
Ben: Agreed with Christiana. Spend the time up front to find the right people to put on a great event. Focusing on the minor details only takes away from the day. And most importantly, don’t bring your cell phone; that will only be a distraction.
