Today we’re off to Lake Havasu City, Arizona for a little bit a work and a little bit of pleasure. During the 13 hour drive we’ll experience about a 50 degree rise in temperature. I’m looking forward to soaking up some rays but I know after two weeks in the 100 degree desert sun we’ll be itching to get back to our mild Colorado spring.
Check back soon as Saturday marks the beginning of a very exciting wedding season for IN Photography!

I am SO excited to introduce you to our new website-IN Weddings! Being a wedding photographer has put me in contact with some of the best wedding experts in Colorado. Since becoming a bride I’ve learned how valuable it is to have these resources at my fingertips. Last month I became inspired to create a place where I could connect Colorado brides with the best vendors out there. The directory is a work in progress but we’ll be adding new wedding experts every week. The blog will be constantly updated with vendor interviews, bride interviews and my own little tips and advice. Our fabulous photographer colleagues are helping us to create an amazing real Colorado weddings section where brides can find tons of visual inspiration. I hope you take the time to check it out and let us know what you think! www.inweddings.net
We recently put together a little slideshow to showcase some of our favorite work. I love how well it shows off or relaxed style. Every time I watch it remember how lucky I am to have this job! Here it is for your viewing pleasure.
Today you’ll notice that things look a little different here at IN Photography. We’re constantly trying to keep things fresh and functional around here so we decided to remove our splash page (the page with the buttons that directed you to portfolio, studio journal or client galleries) and incorporate it here on the blog. From now on www.inphotography.net will bring you straight here to the blog. If you want to visit other areas of our site, just click on the links at the top of the page. We hope you like the new look!
I told my dad a few months back about karma. It’s a concept in which he now lives by and I always have. Over the last three years Mark and I have put our hearts and souls into our business. Everyday we work harder and harder to see that we provide our clients with the best possible experience. We get so caught up in the day to day that sometimes it’s hard to tell if our hard work is paying off. Well, many of our clients have been kind enough lately to take the time to let us know that they are quite happy with what they see. I wanted to share a few of the notes we’ve received lately…they make me smile!
Michele and Mark,
You have to check out this wedding that Joe and I went to a couple of days after ours. I knew that I loved my pics but after seeing this I just wanted to let you know that your work is so far above average it’s unbelievable. Thank you, thank you, thank you! -Rachel
Hi Mark and Michele,
How is it that Jen and Jarrett were so lucky to have found you. We were so glad to meet you at their wedding. Both of you are fantastic people. Not only do you take the most wonderful pictures of people and events but you made us all feel comfortable and like family to you. We absolutely love the pictures that are posted. The day after the wedding we were together in a large group and went on your website. What a thrill to be able to see the photos so soon. Thank you for being you and for giving us fantastic photo memories of a great day. -Sincerely, Judy (Mother of Bride)
We continue to work as hard as we can and hope that word will spread so that we can keep this little thing called IN Photography going for the next few years. We love what we do and are so lucky to work with the wonderful people that we do.
Thank you to everyone that enjoys and appreciates our photography!
Last week I was shuffling through some portraits from when we first opened our studio. I came across one of my all time favorites. This is Matthew…

Here at IN Photography we’re on a never-ending quest for the latest and greatest products to offer our clients. Last month I began the search for a new coffee table style album to offer. After hours and hours of research I found the perfect match. Some of the things we look for in our albums are excellent print quality, durability, sophistication as well as a manufacturer with a superb reputation. So now when you order a portrait album, parent album or engagement portrait guest book this is what you will be receiving. A gorgeous, hardbound book with custom cover, dust jacket and slip cover with silver hot stamping. Check it out!

I thought it might be fun to share a little IN Photography history with you. When we opened our portrait studio 3 years ago in Lake Havasu City, AZ we had no intentions of shooting weddings. Our doors had not been open for even a month and on a Wednesday a girl walked in and asked if we could photograph her wedding on that Saturday. We needed all the work we could get so we agreed.
The only knowledge we had about shooting weddings was from our experience at family and friends weddings and the single worksheet that one of our instructors gave us while in school. (Wedding photography was “frowned upon” at our school). We practically packed up the entire studio for this little wedding. We did it the way we thought it was supposed to be done and we absolutely hated it.
We were later approached by a family friend and asked to photograph her daughter’s wedding. We agreed as long as we could skip the traditional stuff and try shooting the way we wanted to shoot. We had an absolute blast and the photos turned out awesome! To Mark and I’s surprise, that wedding led us to where we are now, running a business primarily photographing weddings. The best part is, we LOVE what we do!
It’s been a lot of fun to watch the business evolve over the last three years. I don’t think I could find two better photos to represent this evolution than these:
Our very first wedding…

And a much more “IN” group shot. Fun, relaxed and most importantly, a real moment!

Stay tuned…it’s going to get even better over the next three years!

We cannot thank our friends Pat & Heidi enough for being part of an IN Photography free-for-all. They were kind (and crazy) enough to be our subjects for a shoot that was for absolutely nothing. Mark and I had such a great time shooting for just the fun of it and Pat & Heidi were up for anything. They didn’t mind hiking down to the water in 105 degree heat and they hopped right in the mosquito covered water when we asked them to. What we told them would be about an hour long shoot turned into over four hours! This is what happens when we’re given complete freedom, we tend to get a little carried away! To top it off, they bought us dinner after we got done! What awesome friends!
Needless to say, I have several favorites.
